The Design Process can be very complex. A Landscape Plan is always recommended for large landscape projects and for clients who may want to install the work themselves. Also, having a Landscape Plan helps to compare prices from different contractors to install the work. You may also need permitting or approval from your homeowners association for the project before you start it. These organizations may need a plan before they can approve the actual work. It always saves time, money, confusion and aggravation to have a Landscape Plan.
Here’s how we work;
-
INITIAL CONSULTATION Our designer meets you at your property to discuss your goals. We start collecting data such as a survey, measurements and pictures.
-
CONCEPTUAL DRAWING These are loosely drawn sketches and act as “overlays” when presented.
-
MASTER PLAN Once we’ve gone through the conceptual phase, we refine our ideas to come up with the final master plan. The master plan is a scaled illustrative drawing to allow you to visualize the final design layout. Included is a planting plan to show plant quantities and specifications.
- FINAL PRESENTATION Once the plans are complete we meet with you to review the plans and collect final payment.
- CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTATION In some cases a master plan and planting plan may not be sufficient for clients and contractors to visualize the designer’s intent. Therefore Construction Documents may be needed as part of the design and permitting process. These documents may include: Grading plans, Detail sheets, Elevations, Irrigation and lighting plans, Erosion control plans, Tree staking and planting details. Generally a professional landscape architect will draw and / or review all of these documents prior to their being submitted. All of these documents are billed separately from the master plan at an hourly or lump sum fee.
- BUILD We include installation services with every design we do. So, you will have a comprehensive quote for our staff to install the project.
- CONSTRUCTION OBSERVATION If you decide to have someone else install your project, we also offer observation services during the construction process. This is a simple written communication process between Scenic Environments, Inc. and you, the client. We reveal in writing what we see in the field to you. These are strictly”observations” and are useful in case of poor construction techniques and could be used in a court of law if need be. The fees for this are based on a hourly rate and are to be paid upon receipt of an invoice.
- CONSULTATIONS ONLY: Some projects are smaller and more straightforward and may only require a simple sketch or an hour or two of our time to “talk things through”. In this case, we charge $200. for the first hour and $125. for each hour after that.
